People who have read my posts know that I live in the north of Naxos Island, Greece.
My house, which was built to my own specifications, stands atop a hill some 350m above the Aegean sea. The main aspect of the house faces east and I have an approximate 160 degree panoramic view. On a normal day, I can see five islands. On a very clear one, five others, more distant appear on the horizon. This is a wonderful waking dream every day. From my bed, without as much as taking my head off the pillow, I see something like this dawn of a couple of days ago.
And even in winter, with thick cloud cover, there is always a gap between the horizon and the grey blanket. Into that gap rises the sun, and so except for on the very darkest of days, I get a brief but beautiful confirmation that a new day has dawned.
I intended to write more, but the moon is full tonight!
Sounds lovely Stuart, and so glad you’re appreciative of the beauty of your vantage point ♥️.
Very full, shining like a searchlight all night long. But no Aegean dawn, sadly
